The Getaway Club

Louth Lions are proud supporters of the Horncastle, Louth and Spilsby Getaway Club

The aim of the Getaway Club is to promote the positive aspects of special needs and to advance the personal development of its members through greater leisure opportunities, promoting choice and independence, encouraging their full participation, integration and involvement in their club and local community.  The club members span a wide range of ages and abilities with many having learning or physical disability.

The Getaway Club meets every Thursday evening at 7pm in the Horncastle Community Centre and provides a safe haven for Vulnerable Adults, where they can come along, feel safe and mix and make friends with others. The club offers a very varied program of activities and entertainment which includes music, karaoke, dance, theatre and outings. They also have craft and games evenings and invite people to the club to share their talents, experience and friendship. Whilst the club is run independently, they retain an affiliation to Mencap, promoting their members in a positive and progressive way.

Would you like to do something different to help others less fortunate than you? The club needs volunteers, who are caring and want to give something back to the community. Pop in any Thursday evening from 7pm until 9pm (Tea, coffee and biscuits always available.)
